Your Personal Vision Statement

Much is changing rapidly in society, along with growing pressure to conform to lifestyles that lead down a path to destruction (Proverbs 14:12). What happens around us can impact our spiritual growth if we haven’t truly internalized our place as citizens of the Kingdom of God (Ephesians 2:19).

A clear perspective of your relationship with God as His child will help you remain anchored in the coming Kingdom of God—today, tomorrow and forever. We each need to be personally aware of who we are today: children in the family of God the Father and Jesus Christ, living now under the rule of Their Kingdom and government, which Christ will establish in its fullness at His return.

Here’s where we need to stop and contemplate: “Who exactly am I in God’s eyes at this moment in my life?” Ephesians 5 describes a strong spiritual connection between Jesus Christ and His developing bride, marked by dedication and interaction. And we read in Revelation 19:7-8 that the bride has been diligent in making herself spiritually ready, developing in stark contrast to that of society around her. Ask yourself, “How committed to that is my personal vision of who and what I am, now, tomorrow and forever?”

The apostle Paul developed a strong personal vision of his relationship with God and His Kingdom this way. Here is a sample vision statement from Paul’s own words:

“I am a child of God and joint heir with Christ (Romans 8:16-17). I am a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles (2 Timothy 1:11). Christ lives in me, and I live by faith in the Son of God (Galatians 2:20). I carry deep concern for all the churches (2 Corinthians 11:28). I strive to be a wise master builder, laying the one foundation, which is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 3:10–11). I strive to imitate Christ so faithfully that others may imitate me (1 Corinthians 11:1). My citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20–21). When Christ appears, I also will appear with Him in glory” (Colossians 3:4).

How clearly do you declare your personal relationship with God right now, and your part in His coming Kingdom? Why not similarly write yourself a “vision statement” that clearly defines who you are in process of becoming? Such a pronouncement could greatly help us stay focused in this age and during trying events. Endeavor to keep growing, with Christ living in you through the Holy Spirit, toward the goal pictured in the plan of salvation we just celebrated in God’s annual Holy Days.

With love and appreciation for you as brethren and fellow citizens of God’s coming Kingdom,

Spotlight on Good Works

How Your Support Has Helped Brethren in Nigeria

For the past two years, Good Works has provided regular funding for food assistance to support brethren in Nigeria. These ongoing efforts have enabled the purchase and distribution of essential food supplies to those in need. The Good Works food distribution program has brought meaningful relief to approximately 120 members in the region, providing staples such as rice, beans, semo and vegetable oil.

The brethren in Nigeria remain deeply grateful for the kindness and generosity of those who have contributed to these efforts. Your support has made a tangible difference in their daily lives and stands as a powerful example of care and unity within the United Church of God.
