Building a Strong Foundation
Billey Adamu and Franklin Hiagbe on their camp experience in Nigeria.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of United Youth Corps, we were blessed to attend the United Youth Camp (UYC) 2025 held at the beautiful Agaja Beach in Lagos, Nigeria from August 17th to 24th. This vibrant gathering brought together about 64 campers and staff from the USA, Ghana, and Nigeria—an international fellowship united in faith and growth.
This year’s theme, “Building on the Foundation,” was not just a title but an invitation to deepen our spiritual roots and live purposefully. Each day, we explored what it means to be anchored in Christ, the Cornerstone of our lives.
Our roles were both a privilege and a joy. Billey led the team challenge class and taught a Christian Living class on the sub-theme “Living Stones,” encouraging campers to see themselves as active builders in God’s family. Franklin took on the role of volleyball and dance instructor, fostering fellowship and fun while linking each activity back to the daily spiritual lessons—reminding everyone how to apply God’s truths on and off the court.
Together, at the start of every session, we revisited the day’s memory verse and key takeaways. We encouraged campers to not only understand the lessons intellectually but to live them genuinely in their daily walk with God. The exercises, games, and interactions became real-life expressions of faith, teamwork, and resilience.
Throughout the week, we witnessed powerful moments of laughter, learning, and spiritual growth. The bonds we formed with our fellow campers and staff in Nigeria were profound—a true reflection of God’s family transcending borders.
This life-changing experience wouldn't have been possible without the vision and support of United Youth Corps. Your sponsorship enabled us to serve, grow, and be inspired alongside many young people hungry for God’s guidance and love. Thank you for investing in us and in the future of the United Church of God in this part of the world. We look forward with excitement to what God will use us for next.
With gratitude and anticipation,
Billey & Franklin
