Final Thoughts
To start my final thoughts, I want to say that before, during, and after this project, each one of the activities has been a great blessing that was possible with the help of God. First, I want to express my highest admiration and appreciation to the Patlán Family, especially Pedro and Felis, because of the work they are doing for children with regard to providing a home, care and attention, education, spiritual direction; all that work is so admirable!
I want to add that although I am "local," the experience at Eagle's Nest this year has been a tough task; I had to halt my daily schedule because I needed to stay as long as possible with the children. Throughout this year, I have had a goal to regularly visit the orphanage. Professionally, I try to work and/or promote a government initiative of some kind, or to find the support of other organizations to help these kinds of places; to help children with limited resources, and provide, as far as possible, the same advantages that children have in the Eagle's Nest Children’s home; for example, food, health and education. In Guatemala, and in other countries, there are and always will be children with many needs, so we have the responsibility to work and multiply the blessings through the help of our Eternal God to our communities. There is a lot of work left to do!
Although this is my second participation in this project, this year was different because I had a stronger connection with children; the feeling of entering the house and several of them saying our names and seeing them running towards us with their arms wide open, prepared to hug us with an open heart, is an unforgettable experience, although it's been a few days, the phrase "I miss them a lot...", it's too short to describe the feeling.
