In this update from the president, Victor Kubik talks about the three summer camps that are currently in session. He also discusses this week's Beyond Today recording and how members and congregations can help other brethren through planned giving contributions.

Three of the five UYC summer camps are in session at this moment: Hye Sierra in California, Pinecrest in Missouri and Cotubic in Ohio. The camps are conducting many wonderful educational and recreational events.  Many life-long memories are being made for our youth as well as the many staff members. We thank all who give their time and energy to make the United Youth Camps program a great success. Beverly and I will be going to the latter part of Camp Cotubic.

Beyond Today Recording July 3

We witnessed the recording of three new programs: "Aliens and the Bible: Are We Alone" by Steve Myers; "When Heaven Comes to Earth" by Darris McNeely; and "The Message of the Antichrist" by Gary Petty.

We had a full house, including 15 Beyond Today subscribers in the attendance. We had three visitors from Scotland and two from Canada.

Can You or Your Congregation Help?

For a number of years, churches in Southern California and Colorado have supported disadvantaged international areas by providing excess second tithe to help during the Feast of Tabernacles with extra food and/or an activity to make the Feast special. I would like to ask if any other churches or individuals would also like to help out.

As our churches in developing countries grow, we are faced with extra needs. Some of them are in very stressed areas with drought, hunger and starvation, as we have recently reported. Good Works and LifeNets are helping with basic food relief through central Zambia and into Zimbabwe. I'm posting a report that we received a few days ago about food distribution from our Lusaka, Zambia, pastor Major Nawa Talama. You can read it at https://lifenets.org/zambia-drought-food-relief-2019/.

If any members or congregations would like to contribute an excess part of your second tithe for your brethren in international areas, it would be helpful for planning this year's Feast. It would be most helpful if we could receive any assistance by mid-August, if possible. Small amounts go a long way to provide extra food, including meat that the brethren get infrequently.

Excess second tithe contributions for this purpose should be sent to the United Church of God, labeled "Good Works—Feast of Tabernacles."
