Upon the return of Jesus Christ, we will be asked to help fix the world. The lists of things needing fixing and the number of people needing help are both extensive. But God is not waiting until the millennium to begin fixing the world; He is fixing it right now, today, one person at a time. Jesus invites the Christian believer to “Come to Me” as He begins the process of fixing us. “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Eph 2:10). Through what Jesus is doing in our lives today, we are being shaped into future “fixers”. The tools and character we develop today matter for today and tomorrow. The apostle Paul understood this. Rather than expecting everyone to meet him where he was, Paul learned how to meet people where they were. He described his approach as becoming “all things to all men” so that he might reach and help them (1 Cor 9:22). If we are going to help Christ restore a broken world tomorrow, we must allow Him to teach us how to reach broken people today.
