Atonement

A Day of Great Responsibility

God gave us the Holy Days for a very special purpose. The Holy Days show God’s plan for all mankind. Israel has a very important role in God’s plan. The Day of Atonement is about preparing the people of Israel for the greatest responsibility. We have been called to the responsibility of teaching God’s ways to all nations of Israel. The Day of Atonement pictures a day of great responsibility. To bring the world to repentance Israel will have to clean up their heart. The Day of Atonement also pictures that time when God’s people are reconciled with him so that the entire world can be taught his way. The process can only start when a people humble themselves. This is why we fast on this day.
Roger Foster

Roger Foster (1936-2017) was born in Doniphan, Missouri, in 1936.  Roger was first hired into the work of the Church in 1958, and in the fall of 1959 he was sent out as a ministerial trainee. In October of 1960 he married his loving wife of 56 years, Janice Roemer. As newlyweds, they began the first assignment of their longtime ministry in Long Beach and Los Angeles, California.

He and Janice served the Church faithfully in 28 different congregations over the course of 54 years, and Roger was a senior writer for Church publications. Roger was known for being firmly grounded in God’s Word. He was used powerfully by God to preach the gospel and to help prepare God’s people for the soon coming Kingdom. His legacy is truly one of agape love that will be felt for years to come by those whom he selflessly and tirelessly served.
