II Timothy 3:14 says continue in the things you have learned. Memory plays a crucial role in the ability to continue in wisdom learned from scripture. We can remember things we have learned either visually, auditory and or kinetically (by touch). We can employ the 3 stages of memory to retain what we learn from scripture. They are receiving and processing knowledge, storing knowledge and retrieving knowledge. Memorizing scripture is only a tool toward salvation. James 1:22 admonishes us to be doers of the law rather than hearers only.
