Commitment – Being Responsible for Our High Calling

What does thinking about your commitment to your calling do for you? Does it evoke a strong feeling of responsibility to prioritize your relationship with God? In light of eternity, our time on earth is short. We are held accountable on how we spent our time, so it is imperative that we analyze ourselves honestly and assess our priorities. The prophet Haggai writes of God’s displeasure with the complacency of the Israelite nation. The returnees had returned from their Babylonian exile and had neglected to rebuild the temple, but rather choose to focus on their own needs. As a result, God caused a drought to wake the people out of their slumber and make Him their top priority. This story serves as a reminder for us today. If we are to be counted worthy, we must show God with our attitude and actions that we hold our commitment to build our temple seriously.
