Does Good Equal Godly

There is a perception that being a Christian only requires that one does good and the more good you do, the better off you are. You don’t necessarily have to attend church, open the bible, but do good out of a loving heart and that shows you’re a Christian? Also, doing good will result in one being blessed by God. However, is this found in scripture? Can one be good apart from God and does on receive a reward for just being Good?
