The Emendations of the Sopherim

The Sopherim were the scribes that copied the Hebrew scriptures known as the Masoretic text, Masoretic from the word Masorah, which are notes in the margins. Emendations are corrections to a text, or altering the text to improve it. C.D. Ginsburg in his book Massorah states that 134 times the Masoretic text differed from early manuscripts, that is emended to read Adonai instead of YHVH. We explore the doctrinal implications of such an emendation in Psalm 110. Transcript available at the Download button.
