The apostle Paul instructed the Corinthian church to “examine” themselves, and it is something every Christian in every age should practice. But it is a practice that should go deeper than a “surface” examination. A Christian's personal examination should go to deeply ingrained concepts and thought patterns, with the goal of discovering the intents of the heart, and repenting of those which go contrary to God's will.
