What does the name “Jesus” mean? Where did it come from? How was Jesus given this name, and why? And what about “Christ”? It’s a title rather than a name, but what does it mean? Why was it applied to Jesus of Nazareth? Understanding this name and title are crucial to grasping who and what Jesus Christ was, why He came, what He is doing now, what He will do in the future, and what He does in bringing about God’s plan for salvation. Without understanding the meaning of this name and title, we miss a large part of the picture of God’s love and plan for us.
