A Fresh Start

The Children of Israel threw out their leavening when they left Egypt because there was only so much they could carry with them. They left Egypt with a high hand, carrying incredible wealth, and were headed to a new life in God' Promised Land. This is the image of "A Fresh Start" that we are given every year, but it is done in such a simple way, with water and flour. David Jones gives a physical example of the very spiritual "fresh start" that we are given and the hope that lies ahead for His chosen people.
