We are to examine ourselves whether we are in the faith. We should be doing that regularly, of course, not just near Passover. Can we trust ourselves to make proper self-examinations? (This is about our relationship to our Father Who is our Father forever and Christ with Him).

Sermon Notes

INTRO: We are to examine ourselves whether we are in the faith. We should be doing that regularly, of course, not just near Passover. Can we trust ourselves to make proper self-examinations? (This is about our relationship to our Father Who is our Father forever and Christ with Him)

BENEFIT STATEMENT: God tells us to judge righteous judgement, so it seems we must be able to judge ourselves by God’s standards. Yet, we seem to miss things, and over the years, God reveals them. In other words: We are sinners, who are corrupted by sin and not perfect. So …how can we be sure we are qualified to examine ourselves(as in 2 Cor 13.5)

SPS: The problem is solved by understanding how God examines and sees us. Let’s look at

Godly Self-Examination – How Does God See Us?

BODY: What is the Value of “our” life? Is it the SAME value as God’s View of us?

  1. Without GOD …WE would not “BE”. (Nor EVER “Be” like Him)

Genesis 1:1 (NKJV) 1  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

((((Job 26:7 (NKJV) 7  He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.

Job 38:3-7 (NKJV) 3  Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me. 4  "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. 5  Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? 6  To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, 7  When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

We will be creating LIKE Him by then …right?

Revelation 21:3-5 (NKJV) 3  And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." 5  Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."

How much do we value OUR opinion and view of “self” …compared to how much Christ saw Christ?

John 14:10 (NKJV) 10  Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.    …24  He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.

(((((James 2:14-18 (NKJV) 14  What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15  If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16  and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17  Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18  But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

Believe (Living WITH and OF) Him: (The Unity of God-Beings is beyond our experience – NOT beyond THEIRS. They desire THEIR Way WITH us!

((((John 10:37-38 (NKJV) 37  If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; 38  but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him."

John 17:20-22 (NKJV) 20  "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21  that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22  And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:

(((Philippians 1:29 (NKJV) 29  For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake.  [THIS STATE of UNITY is GRANTED]

(((1 Thessalonians 2:13 (NKJV) 13  For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

GOD makes ALL for ALL to be WITH Him as Him ALL in ALL:

(((((1 Corinthians 12:6 (NKJV) 6  And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.

1 Corinthians 15:28 (NKJV) 28  Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

Colossians 3:11 (NKJV) 11  where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

God ONLY is Good and in Power:

Matthew 19:17 (NKJV) 17  So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments."

((((Mark 10:18 (NKJV) 18  So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.

((((Luke 18:19 (NKJV) 19  So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.

1 Thessalonians 1:5 (NKJV) 5  For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10  Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.   [Undistracted, Non-corrupted UNITY with God’s Family]

Matthew 5:8 (NKJV) 8  Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

((((Matthew 5:3 (NKJV) 3  "Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

  1. Humans are just not qualified to examine themselves without God’s Spiritual Guidance.

Jeremiah 17:9-10 (NKJV) 9  "The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10  I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

John 7:24 (NKJV) 24  Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."

((((Acts 17:30-31 (NKJV) 30  Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31  because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."

God does the judging …(((2 Timothy 4:8 (NKJV) 8  Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

Human self-valued, self-examination is under-informed, at best, SO, we require GOD’S righteous judgement.

Philippians 3:4-11 (NKJV) 4  though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: 5  circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 6  concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. 7  But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8  Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9  and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10  that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11  if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Dr. McNicholas questioned by Rep Thomas Massie for 1.5 hours about abortion stated, “abortion is moral” and admitted she would perform an abortion for any reason including full term abortion. [Video online]

  1. OUR life is now dedicated to the Purpose for which we were Created in ALL endeavors.

Our Priorities of life become FOR and WITH God …and BY God.

Ephesians 6:5-7 (NKJV) 5  Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; 6  not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7  with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men,

Colossians 3:1-4 (NKJV) 1  If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3  For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4  When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

CONCLUSION: To continue toward becoming LIKE Him in an increasingly self-centered, self-justifying world, while continuing to grow AWAY from self-will, self-importance, self-insistence, self-justification, and self-will …THEN …we are enabled by God to “see” ourselves by HIS Standards through HIS Spirit IN us. God does not think or act like humans. We do not think or act like God.

(((((Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV) 8  "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. 9  "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

  • Without GOD …WE would not “BE”…(Nor EVER “Be” like Him)
  • Humans are just not qualified to examine themselves without God’s Spiritual Guidance
  • OUR life is now dedicated to the Purpose for which we were Created in ALL endeavors

CLOSE: Our dedicated sacrifice of OUR will is to be complete:

Luke 9:23-24 (NKJV) 23  Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24  For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.

So …should we trust that WE are capable of examination of our ways without supernatural intervention from the living Christ IN us?

2 Corinthians 13:4-5 (NKJV) 4  For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you. 5  Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you are disqualified.

HOW to KNOW to be LIKE Christ? Christ IN you:
