The Good Samaritan: The Hard Questions

We are familiar with the parable of the Good Samaritan. How much, though, have we considered the full setting and context of the story? Especially, why did Christ pick those characters? Why did He tell this story in the first place? Is it just a nice story about doing good to others? What questions are actually being answered?
