From Gratitude to Thankfulness

This sermon explores the transformative power of gratitude, emphasizing its role in leading us to a state of true thankfulness. He reflects on the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday as more than a celebration—it’s a time to pause and recognize the gifts we often take for granted. Skorseth draws from biblical examples of men who, amidst their trials, took time to contemplate and express gratitude to God, such as Paul writing letters of thanksgiving from prison. He contrasts this with the fast-paced, stress-filled modern world, which often distracts us from gratitude and contentment. Using the pilgrims’ first Thanksgiving as a poignant example, he illustrates how gratitude can emerge even amidst hardship. Citing the story of the ten lepers healed by Jesus, where only one returned to give thanks, he warns of the unthankfulness prevalent in the world today and urges believers to cultivate gratitude as a daily practice, fostering a deeper connection with God and His blessings.
