A dispute arose concerning whether Gentiles needed to be circumcised to
be saved. The Jerusalem Council in Acts 15 convened to resolve the
question. The conclusion was that the Gentiles had to abstain from four
things: idols, sexual immorality, things strangled, and blood. From the
perspective of the 21st century, that doesn't make sense. But from the
perspective of Jewish history and culture, it does. Many churches use
Acts 15 as a proof text that the law is done away, but one can see that
