This message explains the blessing and responsibility of the fifth commandment. The key instruction of this commandment is to honor your parents. When we do this, we also learn respect for others, and that forms a good foundation for all our human relationships. Keeping the fifth commandment teaches us to yield to others and be teachable and show godly respect for all authority. The blessings of the fifth commandment are long life in this life and an eternal inheritance in God’s kingdom.

Andy Diemer is the pastor of the Fort Myers, Florida congregation and the associate pastor serving the congregations in Ft. Lauderdale and Vero Beach, Florida. He served as the pastor of the churches in New England from 2014 to 2021. He was baptized into the Church in 1981 and ordained as an elder in 2011. He holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from Cleveland State University. He had a thirty-year career in manufacturing before being hired by the UCG in 2014.
