John 4:41-54, 5:1-18

Mr. Smith begins this study with a short look at what was covered in the last study about Jesus in Samaria. The closing verses on that subject show that they believe Jesus because of his teaching. This is in contrast to what we see in this study of two miracles that Jesus performed. In the last verses of John chapter 4 we see the account of Jesus coming to Galilee and a nobleman that came to Jesus asking for the healing of his son. Jesus points out here that many believe his miracles, but not his teaching. But he then heals the man's son. In John five Jesus returns to Jerusalem and we have the account of the man at the pool of Bethesda. Jesus heals this man but the Jewish leaders rather than rejoicing in a man being healed after 38 years wan to kill Jesus because he does not follow their traditions of what can and can not be done on the Sabbath.
