As in Peter's day, Christians are often the object of persecution. It's important that while awaiting Christ's return, God's called people be united and stay faithful to the doctrines that God delivered to the church.  I Peter's first letter to the scattered church, he provides an action Plan to help us stay focused and faithful to the mission we're given.
