Mr. Fred Nance, How is this relevant to our lives today? And, why we would we need to know about the sacrifices of the Old Testament? I'm not getting the connection! Please, explain. Respectfully, Barbara Kaminski

Hello Barbara I actually explained why we should study Leviticus and the sacrifices in the first Bible study that I gave to begin the series (Introduction to Leviticus and chapters 1-3)...explaining their relevance for us today during that study. The sacrifices of Old Testament times were a way God designed for those people to seek forgiveness and approach him, because sin separates us from God. (Isa. 59:2). The sacrifices atoned for sin by the shedding of animal blood....our sins are atoned by the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 9:22 "And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission of sin." The animal sacrifices and shedding of blood pointed to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and each type of the sacrifices (there were 5), contained symbolism of Christ's sacrifice. For instance, when the Israelite's brought an unblemished animal it symbolized the perfect nature of Christ's sacrifice. It might be helpful to go through the first Bible study I gave on Leviticus, if you are able. Sincerely Fred Nance
