Living under the Sword of Damocles

In 2 Peter 3, Peter writes to a church that would exist in the last days, just prior to the return of Jesus Christ. His letter expresses concern that the influence of a culture that, in those last days, would grow increasingly more hostile in it's rejection of God and the things of God, might shake their own determination to remain steadfast. In encouraging them to resist, he exhorts them, and us, to be mindful of some things that would stir a sense of urgency, motivating us to remain steadfast until our Lord returns.
