Memorial Day

Remembering Those Who Have Died in the Faith

Memorial Day began as a day to honor those who died fighting in the Civil War. It evolved over time to honor all United States soldiers who have died in battle. We too have been fighting a war. It is appropriate for us on occasion, to remember and honor those who have died fighting in our war. In Psalms 116:15 we are told, "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints." There are plenty of examples in the Bible of those who have died in the faith. But each one of us also know people who have directly impacted us, who have also died in the faith. We do need to on occasion, remember and honor them as well.
