The Mystery of the Resurrection

The resurrection was a controversial issue in Paul's time, and it is a controversial issue even in our day. Most of Christianity today believes people are already resurrected and they are either in heaven or in hell.  So there is confusion about the resurrection even today. Indeed the resurrection is a mystery, and Paul calls it that later on.

As a result of the controversy over the resurrection of the dead in Paul's time, Paul gave a detailed defense of the resurrection. He devoted an entire chapter to that particular discussion in the book of First Corinthians.
