Nation Collapsing Under Sin

We believe that Christ’s return is imminent. We believe that we are descendants of the nation of Israel. We also believe in the removal of the blessings we have received as a nation. We see that God’s blessing is slowly being withdrawn.

What should our outlook be on a day to day basis?

Jeremiah 32:1

He was in a tough position, one we might be in at some day.

Jer. 2:11-13 → Judah had fallen into worshiping their idolatry.  Idolatry today involves far more than worshipping gods, it can mean worshipping physical things, social causes - anything that replaces God.

Jer. 2:21 → Jeremiah had lost the ability to recognize right and wrong.

Judah had reverted from the respect from God to doing what was right in their own eyes.

Jer. 4:22 → People are foolish, they have no understanding.  They are intent on doing wrong.

Their moral values had completely reversed, they had careless social drift as we do today.

Jer. 32: → Jeremiah was investing in God.

We can be caught up in our needs when the time of judgment comes.  We need to remember that the provision of our needs comes from God.  God can and will provide us with any of our needs.

When the time of judgment comes, we will have to be so certain of his promises.

Jer, 32:22 →  Jeremiah understood why Judah was in the shape that it was in and why judgment was coming upon it.

It is important to distinguish faithful questioning and being a continual skeptic.

Jer. 32:36-41 → Jeremiah and the nation were staring at disaster.  Yet, God says that it will be restored.

Gen. 3:2 → It wasn’t just Judah that lost its nations.  The whole human condition has been a slave to sin.

Jer. 1:6-8, 19
