What does a priest do, and why should we care? In the book of Revelation God reveals His future government will be a theocracy, a merger of church and state. Rev 5:9-10 And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, (10) and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.” ESV; also, NLT says “kingdom of priests.” In this first of a three-sermon series, we begin to explore what a priest’s duties were in the Old Testament and why. In this way, we can gain a better understanding of what it means to be a priest in God’s “kingdom of priests.”
