The Rod of God was empowered when Moses showed a lack of faith that he could do the job God intended for him. It became a crutch for him to use during the Egyptian plagues. But a time came when he outgrew the need for it. The Rod of God is no longer needed today, but our work parallels what Moses did – bringing people out of Egypt. We must grow in faith as Moses did, and rely directly on God for salvation.
