God, in the Old and New Testaments, would describe the relationship between God and His people as that of a shepherd of sheep. In the explanation of this relationship is found strength, trust, and solace for those who are in such a relationship. As the church was established, this same relationship was used as an admonition to elders in the church, and in the same spirit to reflect the same qualities as found in our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ.
