Israel, rescued from Egypt, began their journey in the promised land by facing strongholds - Jericho. Without defeating Jericho, they would be a thorn in their side, an immediate enemy who could attack and harass them. God provided the power to overcome such a stronghold. We, too, face strongholds in our lives - sin, when it takes hold of us, captures us. Sin becomes a stronghold that needs to be removed. God provides the power and means.

Fred Crow is a pastor with United Church of God; He has a B.A. degree in theology with a minor in speech from Ambassador College, Bricket Wood, England.
