Among ancient Israel's ceremonial offerings at its seven annual Holy Days, the ceremony called the "Wave Loaves" offering on the Feast of Pentecost (Feast of Firstfruits) was unique in that its loaves were leavened. These Wave Loaves symbolized that: (1) The firstfruits of God's plan of salvation will be comprised of two categories of people (both Israelites and Gentiles) who will be filled with God’s Holy Spirit; (2) During the physical lifetimes of the firstfruits, they will still be leavened (not yet sinlessness), but they will have been sanctified by God’s Holy Spirit and graciously considered spiritually washed by the blood of Christ and therefore without guilt; (3) The firstfruits will be baked (purified through trials); and (4) The firstfruits will be “waved” (symbolizing being presented before God in thanksgiving and for God's official acceptance). These loaves symbolize the called, chosen and faithful spiritual firstfruits harvest of the Kingdom of God.
