Waiting on God

One of the important exhortations of the Bible is the call “wait on the Lord”. Even though God promises many blessings for waiting, mankind tend to take matters into their own hands. Psalms 27:11,14 and Psalms 25:4-5 tell us to wait on God. King David waited for years for his deliverance from his enemies. Other examples of waiting include Noah, Moses, Paul & Silas and Jesus Christ. Waiting on God requires the passage of time, confident expectation, knowledge and trust, negatives and positives to do, seeking the Lord and taking action at the right time, according to God’s timing. Several people listed in Hebrews 11 are waiting patiently in their graves for the fulfillment of God’s promises to them. Waiting involves us to pray, study our Bibles and meditate on God’s word every day. Waiting will result in us fully acknowledging God in our lives, produce patience and endurance, deepen our faith and reliance on Him and allows God to show us His mercy and compassion. Isaiah 30:18 says “Blessed are all those who wait for Him”. The ultimate goal we are waiting for is the return of Jesus Christ and the receiving of a crown of righteousness as we enter into the Kingdom of God.
