You Shall Not Do So unto the Lord Your God

Deu.12:4 is a single scripture that is used by many to enforce the notion that there is a prohibition to writing out the name of God, or even that the word "God" must be written out with substitute symbols (i.e. G-d).  There is a definite prohibition in the context of Deuteronomy 12.  Let's find out what Deu.12 is saying and what it is not saying.
