Well, good morning, everyone, and thank you to the young people for a wonderful presentation. It's a hard act to follow when you have young people come up, and I have the opportunity to do it today. So it's nice to see you. I hope you had a wonderful feast thus far. It's not quite over yet, but it's getting close. Question for you is, what have you been doing for the last 858 years?
If you take 1,000 years and you divide it by seven days, it comes up to about 143 for each day. So we're almost at the close of the thousand-year periods, or probably over 858 years. What have you been doing? Have you been flying on a cloud? Have you been strumming on a harp? What have you been doing? Have you been gazing at the face of Jesus? What have you been doing for the last 858 years? Because at sunset tonight, the Feast of Tabernacles is complete.
The thousand years that it pictured will be over. But my question for you is, what have you been doing for the last 858 years? What's been your role as a spirit being in God's family and kingdom? Now we know 1 Corinthians 2 verse 9. It's been quoted several times. I has not seen nor ear heard, neither has entered into the heart of man the things that God has prepared for those that love him. So God has prepared a wonderful kingdom. We know that. He's prepared a wonderful kingdom for more than just us.
Now we will be as spirit beings, but at that time the only ones will be citizens in that kingdom. And that kingdom will reign over the earth and all the people that are left after all the horrible times that are coming, the Great Tribulation, the trumpet plagues, the plagues of Satan's and man's inhumanity to man God's trumpet plagues, the seven last plagues, the Battle of Armageddon, and all that before the kingdom begins.
And there will be people left and there will be people who need help. 1 John 3 verses 1 and 2 has been quoted, but I'd like to go there with you. 1 John 3 verses 1 and 2. And if you're looking for a title for this sermon, it'll be, What Will You Be Doing for the Thousand-Year Period? 1 John chapter 3 verses 1 and 2.
1 John 3 verses 1 and 2 we read, Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us that we should be called the children of God, its techno, not sons as old King James has. Therefore the world doesn't know us because it didn't know him. You and I act in a way that the world doesn't recognize. If you're a person of truth, if you're a person of honor and respect, if you're a person who holds dear to God's way of life, about the law of God that we just heard, who walks in a certain way, because you see, where does your Father lead you in the paths of righteousness?
He takes your hand and you walk down the path of righteousness. That's where God leads you. Where's everybody else going? Different directions. Sometimes they cross the path of righteousness, sometimes they go off of it. God leads you down that path. They don't know you. They're not walking the same way. So he says, what manner of love God has bestowed upon us that we should be called the children of God even now. God says, these are my children. They're going to be born into my family at the resurrection at the what's pictured by the Feast of Trumpets.
Verse 2, Beloved, now are we the children of God. Say, now are we the children of God? Now not yet, spirit beings, and it does not yet appear what we shall be. Do you know what you're going to be doing and are you sure? Are you going to be a pillar in the temple? You'll be holding up the temple? Are you going to be ruling over five cities or ten cities or one city or no cities?
Will you be a priest? Will you be a king? Will you be a prince? So I can't be a king? I've never been a king. How can I be a king? Brethren, think about it for a minute.
When you become a spirit being, you're not subject to human mindedness only. You will have the total mind of God, the total mind and the total ways and manner of God, the total love of God. We will not be subject. Remember one man saying, boy I sure hope I don't have to rule over the Spanish people because I never am good at languages. When you're a spirit being in the God family, just like that, how much will you have to learn?
I don't know if I can rule over a city or not. I've never ruled over any. How many governors do we have in here? Governors, mayors, or whatever? Probably not very many. Oh, we do have one. Oh, congratulations. So you've got experience already, but is that the way... does God want you to be a ruler in his kingdom the way you're a ruler here? Probably not, but God will say, do this, here's how to do it, here's how to do this, here's...
and you will pick it up so quickly with the mind of God. We have to be really careful when we talk about being a spirit being that we don't just say, it's all about us physically. I remember somebody saying, well, whatever you did in this life, what you're gonna do tomorrow? But what if I just happen to be really good at landscaping, but I hate it?
That's all I've done is I'm gonna landscape, okay, in the world tomorrow, guess what, Gary? You get the mow lawns in the world tomorrow. I don't want a mow lawn, but you're good at it, but I don't like it. It's okay, you gotta do it. What if you've been an accountant, though? You're gonna be a bookkeeper in the kingdom of God. Does God really need you to keep books for Him? Only one book that He needs to be kept in.
As far as I know, it's still being kept, and that's the book of life. See, as a spirit being, you'll have all these attributes, but what will you be doing? Do you know? I know David, but he'll be doing. I know what the 12 Apostles will be doing. What will you be doing? We'll take a look at that in a moment.
So he says, Beloved, now are we the children of God? Does not yet appear, we shall be, but we know this, that when He shall appear, we shall be like Him. That's been emphasized already. And for we shall see Him as He is. We are going to be like Jesus Christ. We are going to be given a glorified body. Right now we have access to the mind of Christ through the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, but when God makes us totally spirit, we're not going to be subject to physical limitations. Think of how easy it'll be for us to pick up learning anything as a spirit being.
Does God know all the languages? Sure He does. Why? Because He made them all, didn't He? They confounded them. Remember they were of one speech and one, they said, let's make this big tower and rival God. And God says, let's get out of these people. We're almost one. They're all one now. There's nothing's gonna be restrained from them. Let's get out and confuse the languages. Does God know those languages? Of course He does. Can you address Him in any language?
Yes. And when you're a spirit being, you'll be able to pick that up so quickly. Language, knowledge, and information will just come to you so rapidly, and you'll never forget, unless you want to. Then you have perfect forgetfulness. Some people like to keep beating themselves up over things and they'll go to God. Oh God, I'm so sorry I did that ten days ago. God says, what? What did you do? You repented of it ten days ago. I forgot.
What did you do? He didn't want you to keep repenting over it. You did it, and you were repented of it. Let it go. God has. He's like, well I'm so sorry but I did that. What? He says. He says, I've forgotten them as far as the east is from the west. I've forgotten. Yours says, I've remembered them no more. As a spirit being, you have the attributes of God. Philippians 3 verse 21.
Philippians 3 verse 21. What are we going to do with all these attributes? What are we going to do with them? We know we're going to be like Christ. How are we going to be and what are we going to be doing during that 1,000 year period? Philippians 3 verse 21. We read this. Who, talking about Christ, shall change our vile body that it may be fashioned like His glorious body according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things to Himself. So we're going to have the attributes of Jesus Christ and no, we're not going to be Jesus Christ.
No, we're not going to be another Jesus Christ. There's only one Jesus Christ. You and I could never be the firstborn Son of God. Never! We can never come from eternity, which Christ did. We could never do that either. But we can be children of God, younger brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ as spirit beings in the family of God, and that's what God offers you and me. But what are we going to do?
What are we going to do with those characteristics? Play a harp? This way, I guess you drove it this way. Are we going to be in an angelic choir while we're not angels? Are we going to be in a spirit being choir? What are we going to do for all eternity? What's your job? What's your role? Let's look at the Scriptures, see if we can get some hints, because it says we don't know what we will be. Now there are hints at it, of course! What will we be doing during this time as God's sons and daughters during the 1000 year period? Number one, my five areas, number one, we will be ruling. That's clear. We will be ruling. Luke 19 verses 11 to 19.
Luke chapter 19 verses 11 to 19. He talks about, in this case, this parable that Jesus Christ gave. We talked about ruling over, as a result, certain cities that are given based on how much a person has done with what he has to do with. So we find the parable, the ten pounds, in verse 11. He says, as they heard these things, he added a parable to them because he was near to Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God should immediately appear. He said, no, not yet. He said to them, a certain nobleman went to a far country to receive for himself a kingdom. They thought the kingdom of God was coming. So he says, certain nobleman went to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. So where is he going to be when he brings his kingdom? Here! And he called his ten servants and he delivered to them ten pounds. And he said, occupy till I come. But his citizens hated him. Didn't like him. Saying, we will not have this man to reign over us. We don't like somebody to rule over us. You know, if you want to have rulership, you have to learn to be ruled too. That's where the issue of submission comes in. No, not submission to evil. No, not submission to something that's wrong. Not submission to abuse, but submission. Submission to God. Submission to his ways. Submission to his law. Submission to his teachings. So he goes on to say, his citizens hated him, though we won't have this man reign over us. Verse 15, it came to pass, though when he was returned, having received his kingdom, he commanded these servants to be brought to him to whom he had given the money. And he, that he might know how much everyone had gained by his trading.
And he came, first came, and he said, Lord, your pound has gained ten pounds. I multiplied whatever I had ten times over. I really increased what you gave me. And the second one, verse 17, and he said, Well, you good servant, because you have been faithful and a little, have you authority over ten cities. You mean taking one pound and making ten out of it makes you a ruler over a city, gives you all the qualifications? No! Brethren, what will you take into the world tomorrow?
Your experiences, but most of all, your character. And if you have the character that's godly, pure, from God himself, that you've developed over the years, that's what you will take. And if you have that godly character, which includes yieldedness and learning, being willing to learn, quick to learn, you take that into the kingdom, you will learn to do anything as a spirit being. You take character. How have you dealt with issues? How have you dealt with circumstances? And of course, every experience you have, you'll be able to take that to relate to human beings because you were a human being before you became a spirit being.
But it's not because you did this and that in this life that you're going to be... it's what you have done, the character you've built. How much have you grown spiritually? Only you and God knows that. I don't know that. I don't see your prayer life. I don't see how much you study the Bible. I don't see what goes on in your mind when you have the Bible in front of you.
For after all, I could put a Bible in front of me and you could see me. Oh, Gary Antion really studies that I could be daydreaming. You don't know. Only God and I know. And that's important for you as a person to make sure that relationship is solid and strong. So he goes on. He says in verse 18, then, the second came and said and saying, Lord, your pound has gained five.
And he said, have the rulership over five cities. So rulership, what are you gonna do with that? Sitting there and have people bring you your coffee, your Starbucks? Well, they have Starbucks, spiritual Starbucks coffee. Bring me my spiritual Starbucks coffee. You sit there and you have your spiritual Starbucks. Is that what it's about? That's not what it's about. We already heard about what kind of rulers God will look for. So one thing we know, you'll be ruling. Revelation 20 in verse 6. Revelation 20 in verse 6. Again, how will you rule?
How will you be taught? What will you do? You'll follow the example of Jesus Christ. Remember what he said? He came not to be served, but he came to serve. Jesus Christ saw people. He was moved with compassion. He loved. Revelation chapter 20 in verse 6. Blessed and holy is he that has parted in the first resurrection on such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God. Another clue. We'll come to that in a moment. And of Christ and shall reign with him a thousand years. So what have you been doing for a thousand years? What have you been doing for the last 858?
Ruling. Ruling. What kind of a ruler will you be? How do you rule your family now? How do you rule in your job now? How do you rule any leadership responsibility that you have? I'm in charge now. I can't wait to be in charge. Now I'm in charge. Where are my stripes? Give me four-star. Give me five-star general. Give me a six. Make me a six-star general. There I am.
You notice most of the rulers of this world, they have so many medals on their chest. I often wonder, did you really win all those or did you just have somebody put them on there for you so you could look good? Did you really deserve all of those? And the Gentile rulers, they love the strut they're where? Is that how you're going to be?
Again, but we will be rulers. Revelation 2, verse 26. Revelation 2, verse 26 talks about what we do in this life and how that affects what we'll be doing in the world tomorrow. He that overcomes and keeps my works to the end, to him will I give power over the nations. But if you don't have character and you have lots of power, think of how many peoples are going to be wiped out by you. Oh, they didn't do what I told them. Zap! Now liquefy them. And all there is just liquid there.
Zap! All there. Would you? And God comes and says, how's your kingdom? I liquefy them. They don't give me any trouble anymore. Of course, I don't have anybody to rule over either. Okay, I better resurrect them from the dead or I resurrect them again. What if you have anger issues?
What if you've not developed character and patience with people, giving them a chance? What about if you shoot first and ask questions later, you have a lot of dead people in your kingdom. How will you rule? How will you rule? You'll have power. What will you do with it?
And the key is, what do you do with it now? What do you do with it now? Any time you have power. What do you do with it, parents, with your children? Do you use your power to love them, to help them, to guide them, to protect them, to serve them? Or do you use your power to vent your wrath on them? Because I'm really mad today, so you're getting a spanking.
If I weren't so mad, you wouldn't get a spanking. That's not a good ruler. And a good ruler doesn't spank to get the anger out of himself. The good ruler disciplines so that the child may learn.
Not for themselves, for the child. Chapter 3 verse 21, we read this, "...to him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne on my throne..." You're gonna sit right beside him. "...even as I also overcame..." Christ never had to overcome sin, but he had to resist it. "...and am set down with my father in his throne." You're gonna, they're gonna rule with me. So we know one thing we'll be doing. We will have rulership. One thing you'll be doing, you'll be ruling. The question is, how? Okay, point number two. What else will you be doing? You will be restoring. You will be restoring. And we look at Isaiah 27 verse 12. What's this world gonna be like when Jesus Christ comes back? Licking its wounds from a good beating.
Where will the Israelites be? Where will the Israelites be? God's chosen people, the people he chose to do a job for him, are going to do that job. What's he going to do? And what will you be doing with him? Of course, you're gonna be fighting your way back with him when you're resurrected to meet him in the air, remember, and you come back with him. Is that when the seven last plagues report on? I don't know. Is that before the Battle of Armageddon? I don't know. I used to always, as a little boy, I loved to have my little tan uniform. I had a little tan jacket. It looked like an army jacket. Little tan one. And I had five uncles in World War II. All of them came back alive. And they would give me some of their insignia. So my mother would sew this insignia on my little jacket, and I would walk around so pleased. I would dream when I was a young man, young boy, of war, being in war. And my buddies and I were there, except when somebody was about to shoot me, I'd wake up. You know what? God's gonna give you... Do you want to fight? You're gonna be in a fight when you come back to this earth. You have to fight your way back, and you're gonna have to fight those people off to let Israel go. Notice Isaiah 27 and verse 12, and it shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall beat off from the channel of the river to the stream of Egypt, and you shall be gathered one by one, O you children of Israel. Now, if God's church is protected in a place of safety, why does he have to go all over the world to gather them? Because elect. Elect is used for both physical Israel and spiritual Israel. But notice verse 13, and it shall come to pass in that day that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, in the outcast and land of Egypt, and shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem. You're going to be helping Jesus Christ restore. Restore nations to their homelands. Restore people, families together. Families that have been separated. Families that have been divided. One in one camp over here and one another, because remember there's going to be great slavery. Take place. Millions and millions of people will be sold into slavery, and they can't wait to get their hands on Americans. The enemy. You're going to be bringing them back. You know what I'm saying? I know where your daughter is. Just a minute. I'll get her for you. Zep. Bring her back. I know where your dad is.
I'll take you to him right now. You're going to be helping restore. Remember what they're going to do? They're going to build the waste cities. Remember what they're going to do? They're going to start rebuilding, just like they did in the days of Haggai, except they'll have much more skill and they'll have God there to guide them. It's going to be a time of restoration. It's already been read during the Feast, Acts 3 21, is a time of restoration. You're going to be helping build. It really bugs me when I get people here about terrorists and all they want to do is destroy. Do you know how easy it is to destroy something? Real easy! Just kick it. Knock it over. How long a person takes to build up these cards and makes this little thing. All you have to do is come and put a fan on it. It blows them all down. It doesn't take much to be destructive, but it takes a lot to be constructive. You and I are going to be helping people. And what about people that are sick? What about people that need healing? What about the deaf? We have some people over here that are hard of hearing. They have to listen to me through hands. They have to listen to me through fingers and gestures. And by the way, they're very good in their gestures, and they're very personable in their faces so that they can get the point. What will happen when they can hear? What will happen when blind people can see? See clearly. How joyful will that be? Will you help with that? Isaiah chapter 35.
Isaiah chapter 35. Notice, then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. My hearing isn't as good as it used to be. I wear two hearing aids, but I will look forward to the day when people who can't hear at all will be able to hear. And they'll be just glad to hear some loud lawnmower next door, just to be able to hear anything. It will be a delight.
Will you be helping to restore them? That's what Jesus Christ and God the Father are going to be doing. Then shall the lame man leap like art and persons never been able to walk? And I see some people sitting around in wheelchairs who can't walk. They would give anything. They visited a lady before the feast. She's dying of cancer. She's hoping to be healed. She can't get up out of her bed. She said, I said, what would you like? What would you wish? I just wish I could get up out of this bed and walk to the bathroom. I just wish for that. A lot of you get up and go to the bathroom, and you don't even think a thing about it. For her, it would be a wonderful thing just to take three or four steps from her hospital bed or her nursing home bed into the bathroom.
The lame man is going to leap, right, like a heart, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing those who cannot speak. For in the wilderness shall waters break out in streams in the desert. You're going to even heal the lands. I like my lawn when my lawn starts to get light of brownish in the summertime because of so much so lacking in rain. When I go out there and put water on it, it looks like it says to me, thank you. It turns green again. Thank you. I like seeing things alive.
Do you? I like helping things live. In the world tomorrow, you're going to be helping with restoration. You're going to be restoring relationships. You're going to be restoring health. You're going to help people come back to God. Notice Ezekiel 36, my last scripture on this one. Ezekiel 36. You're going to be helping rebuild the waste cities and all the rest, but notice Ezekiel 36 and verse 24. He says, I will take you from among the heathen and gather you from all countries, and I will bring you to your own land. That's restoration. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you. You shall be clean and from your filthiness and from all your idols. So you know he's talking about the world tomorrow. I will cleanse you. A new heart also I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you. Will you be helping people become converted?
I've had the privilege at Ambassador College in my 16 years there to counsel an average of about 21 students a year for baptism, and I can tell you the joy of seeing them get it and say, yes, I believe, yes, I am willing to give up my way and be baptized. Whether they were legit or not, that's up to them, and whether they have stuck with it, they'll have to answer to God for that. But what a joy to see a person, a young person, change. What a joy that is to see these people coming back and having a new spirit. I'll put my spirit within you. I'll take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh, a heart that can be worked with. Not hard-heartedness, but soft-heartedness. He said, verse 27, and I will put my spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes, as Mr. Boykin mentioned. Walk in my statutes. You shall keep my judgments and do them, and you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers. You shall be my people, and I will be your God. That's going to be a great time when all the Israelites on the face of the earth can recognize God and come back to Him. The ten tribes that were scattered don't even know who they are. When they come back to God, what a joyous time. You're going to have an opportunity to help with that restoration. Let's look at the third point. Stabilizing. What will you be doing? You'll be stabilizing a world that's just been through the most horrific time there could ever be imagined. The Great Tribulation said, spoken about it, a time that's so bad that there's never been the like. What about the plagues? The trumpet plagues? The seven last plagues? And God's coming back to put down the whole system of this world. People are going to be shaken to the ground, and God's going to have to deal with them and bring them back and strengthen them and stabilize them. Revelation 3 and verse 12. What will you be to them? What will you be doing? Revelation 3 verse 12. We read about those of the Philadelphia era. And by the way, you know what I believe about eras, I believe yes, you could probably find some history, but I believe in this congregation, in this group, there's probably one of every, probably one from each era here.
Probably those who rich and increase with goods and feel like they have need of nothing.
Some who are faithful and diligent, like Philadelphians, have brotherly love. Some people who maybe have a name that they're in the church, but they're not growing as they ought. Others who maybe maintain some of the doctrines of Balaam, and others who've been persecuted, and others who maybe have lost their first love and trying to recapture it.
You know what God says to the people in Revelation 2 and 3? If you have an ear, you should listen to what he says to each one of these, because there are attitudes associated with it, each one. Listen to them. Look at them, and ask God to help you be the best you can be. Of course, everybody would like to be Philadelphian. Everybody would like to be Philadelphian.
And I hope you are in the main Philadelphian. But again, sometimes maybe you get drifting a little bit away, and you're not so Philadelphian. We want to be. We hope we will be. We hope we are.
But attitudes. But Revelation 3 and verse 12, he says this, him that overcomes while I make a pillar in the temple of my God. When I was in Germany about four years ago, 2010, I heard a sermon. First time I ever heard a sermon about pillars.
And what does that mean? You're going to be a pillar. I stand there. You see, we have some pillars in here, whatever you want to call them, holding this up. Okay, my, you're going to do for all your time. I'm holding up the temple, God. I'm here. Is that what you're going to be doing?
I looked it up. This comes from Vines Expository Dictionary of Words. In the New Testament, the word is stulos. It says, a column supporting a weight of a building, but it is used metaphorically of those who bear responsibility in the churches. As of the elders in the Church of Jerusalem, Galatians 2 verse 9, you know, James and them seem to be pillars of a local church as to its responsibility and a collective capacity to maintain the doctrines of the faith by teaching and practice, that they are the pillar and ground of truth, 1 Timothy 3.15. But it goes on to say this. English versions seem, this one, this one seems preferable, figuratively in Revelation 3.12, indicating a firm and permanent position in the spiritual, heavenly, and eternal temple of God.
A fixed position in the spiritual, heavenly, and eternal temple of God. You're going to be a stable being. You're going to bring to people a sense of stability. Some of my training on how to deal with emergencies, people are all numbed. They don't know what to do. But you know what? When they see somebody who has his act together, it gives them courage and confidence. And so you're there just to help them. You're stabilizing people coming out of a traumatic event. They just lose their home. They just lose their spouse, and you're there with them. They sense the stability that you can give to them just by being there. We're going to be stabilizing this world. Take a look in 1 Corinthians 1 verses 26 and 27. Remember, in this life you might not have amounted to much in this world because you can't fly by the same rules. You can't lie, cheat, magnify everything. You know, I made so many money. I got so many sales this month. You didn't. You lied. But you got away with it. People can lie and cheat at work and get away with it. You can't. 1 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 26. Where you see your calling brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh. Notice you didn't say there are no wise men, but you said not many wise men after the flesh. Not many mighty, not many noble are called. I have known of some noble people, some very close to being lords in England. I've known of people who've been very wealthy. The wealthy ones that I have known have always been very generous. They've not let the wealth go to their heads. But God has chosen the foolish things or ones of the world to confound the ones that are wise. God has chosen the weak ones of the world to confound the ones that are mighty. So what has God done? He's called us, and you're a spirit being now, and you see you're a former boss. Hey, you could make it. I made it. You could make it too. Come on, get on the ball. You can do it. And you can. And you will.
No. God has called us as stabilizing force in the world tomorrow. Zechariah chapter 8, he's called us to be examples of God's way of life. And there's a scripture in 1 Peter 2 verse 12 that says, in the day of visitation, they'll remember you. They'll remember how you did things. They'll remember the way you were. Your friends. Your relatives. The lady that you went to regularly at the checkout counter at the grocery store. The bank teller that you liked going to because they were efficient and you got to know them pretty well. One day they'll know who was there with them.
And a stabilizing force as a spirit being. What an awesome thing that will be.
But over in Zechariah chapter 8 verses 22 and 23, notice what he says about those who will be there.
And again here he's using the Jewish people. He says at Zechariah 8 22, yes many people and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem and to pray before the Lord and thus says the Lord of hosts in those days it shall come to pass the ten men shall take hold of out of all the languages of the nations even take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew. Now the Jews that are converted the Jews that have come God's way but who else is a Jew?
Romans 2 28 you're a spiritual Jew.
You will be there to guide and help those people who come from the various nations who need some grounding, who need some stability in God's way. They'll take hold of a skirt of him that is a Jew saying we will go with you for we have heard that God is with you.
When I was being converted, I said being converted, I read the booklet Why Were You Born?
I was so excited I ran and told my dad, hey dad, my dad didn't believe at that time, hey dad look what I found God says we're gonna be a child of God and a family of God.
Nice going son, way to go. Let me get back to watching Highway Patrol.
It didn't sink in with him. But you know what motivated me when I left my home and I never went to Ambassador College to run away from anything. I loved my home, I loved my family.
I went to Ambassador College because I believed God was calling me to go and every other door was avenue was closed.
And one thing it kept me going was that one day my dad's going to be proud of me.
One day my dad's going to be able to say there's my son. He's a member of the family of God.
He's a child of God. And I can give him stability in that second resurrection, which I believe he'll come up in. But I can give stability in the world tomorrow. Stabilize people who are coming out and hurting big time from the end time events. So what will we be doing? Stabilizing, helping people.
Romans 2 verses 21 to 23. My last scripture on this third point and I only have five, so I should finish well before 12 o'clock. Romans chapter 2 and verse 21. Romans 2.
Verse 21, reread this. You therefore that teach another, don't you teach yourself, you that preach a man should not steal, do you steal? Verse 22. You that say a man should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You that abhor idols, do you commit sacrilege? Verse 23. You that make your boast of the law through breaking the law, do you do that? You dishonor God. What will we be doing? We won't be saying one thing and doing another. We'll be examples to them that they can say, that's the way to do it. Okay, now I learn how to do it. I remember those people. They were as true, as straight as an arrow, not a broken arrow, not a bent arrow, not like the golf club that Mr. Smith brought up here. You know, it goes every which way if you don't get it just right, but when you get it true, it stays correct. We will be a stabilizing force to a world that's coming back. So you're going to be stabilizing people. Number four, you'll be teaching and disciplining. Teaching and disciplining. Revelation 5 and verse 10. Revelation 5 and verse 10, what will we be kings and priests? Revelation 5 and verse 10, in the right translation, Moffat and others, RSV, we'll say in verse 10, and have made them, because angels are speaking, not us, have made them to our God kings and priests, and they shall reign on the earth. Kings and priests. You know, what does a priest do? We know what a king does. He rules. What does a priest do?
A priest is to lead people to God. A priest serves God on behalf of the people.
Do you know what the Latin word for priest is? Pontifex. You know what that means? Bridge builder.
Do you know what a Christian is in this day? A person who makes it easier for people to come to God.
Are we a bridge or are we a dam?
Are we a bridge or are we a blockade?
In the world tomorrow, we'll be bridge builders. We'll be helping people come to God, come across that bridge to God, teaching them about God's ways. We will have experienced what a lot of them are going through, just like Christ experienced what we went through.
Micah 4, verses 1-6. Are you prepared to be a teacher? But you know what? If you have a heart, an attitude, and character, you can be a teacher. God will show you how. Jesus Christ will show you how. Remember what he was called? The great teacher. Great teacher. Over in Micah chapter 4, verses 1-6. I believe Isaiah 2 has been read. But Micah 4, a beautiful section of Scripture. I love the book of Micah. Who is God like you? Who is God like you? He says you love mercy. Micah chapter 4 verse 1. But in the last days it shall come to pass, and the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and people shall flow into it. And he said in verse 2, many nations shall come and say, come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord. People are going to be flowing to God's kingdom. Let's go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, and He will teach us His ways, and we will walk in His paths. For the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. You see, God's law now is written in your heart. I don't carry a 10 command list with me. No, let's see. Should I steal? Let me look it up here. Oh, no, God says don't steal. I know that. You've lived God's way for so many years. It's ingrained in you. God's Spirit has helped write it on your heart, and you'll help other people in the world tomorrow to be writing God's way on their hearts. Not something they have to pull out a list or tack it to your door posts, but something you learn. You'll know. You'll help them learn of God's way. They'll come. In verse 3, he says, and they'll judge among many people. That's like a ruler. And rebuke strong nations afar off. Yeah, you may have to rebuke them. But you know what? You always do it out of love, because God is love. We'll see that at the next point. Everything you do will be done out of love.
Now, not true now, is it? Not always. Sometimes we do it out of selfishness. Sometimes we do it out of ego. Sometimes we do it out of selfishness. But then everything you do will be done out of love.
So the rebuked strong nations afar off, and they shall beat their swords in the plow, shares their spears in the pruning hooks, and they shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. No more fighting. No more warring. Get it over with. There's going to be a war when Christ comes back, one last one, and that will be the war.
Well, it won't quite end all wars, because remember, there's still going to be people coming up in Ezekiel 38. Gog and Magog coming up and surrounding the cities of the unwalled villages, and they have to be put down. And then there's going to be Satan at the end. Remember, after the thousand years he's released for a little while, then he goes out and gathers. But as far as humankind is concerned, warfare is going to be over. God's going to deal with it.
They'll learn war no more. I was a cadet, not a cadet, but a ROTC, the Reserved Officers Training Corps, for one year. I saw a film, and what they showed us, what the Japanese did to the Americans in World War II. You know why they showed those films? To make you hate them, make you hate the enemy, and they gave us target practice, so we would go take our Springfield 303s or whatever they were, and we would try to shoot these bull's-eyes. But you know what they found? When they went into battle, if they just shot at bull's-eyes, they couldn't shoot another human being.
So they had to make the bull's-eyes into look like images of men. So it made easier transitioning from shooting at this target to shooting people. It's not natural. People are scarred when they come home from war, and some of you are war veterans, and we love you. Thank you for your service to your country. But some people come back scarred. Some people come back not the same. And some people don't come back. War is hell. I think one general said was at MacArthur. War is hell.
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore. But if they try to lift up a sword against the nation, you'll be there to help stop it. They shall sit every man under his vine, under his fig tree, and none shall make them afraid. Picture of peace. For the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken it. Verse 5 says, For all people will walk everyone in the name of his God. The other translation is, all people do now walk in the name of their God, but they will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever. You'll be there to teach them. You'll be there to discipline them if they need be. Remember when the Feast of Tabernacles comes up? What does God say? The nations that are left in Zechariah chapter 14 and verse 16, the nations that are left shall come up to observe the Feast of Tabernacles. But if Egypt decides it doesn't want to, God says, I've got to give you a little discipline. I'm going to give you a little plague. That didn't work. I'm going to give you a bigger plague. What will you be doing? You'll be teaching.
You'll be disciplining. But for their good, so that they may come into God's Kingdom. What is God's goal?
Break in pieces and consume all these other kingdoms. The Italians may have started out as Italians, but one day they'll be godly. The Grecians may have started out as Greeks, but they'll be Italian. They'll be coming into God's Kingdom, not Italians. Well, we're going to make them into Italians first, and then we'll make them. No, I'm not Italian. The Syrians, they'll come into God's Kingdom and let them go back to Syria. Learn, you know, get yourself together, get your families together, but we want you to be in God's Kingdom, not Syria. Australians? No, you can go back to Australia eventually, but we want you to be in God's Kingdom. Break in pieces, Daniel says, and consume all these kingdoms. But if they get out of line, they're going to be whacked.
Number five. You'll be loving and serving.
Would you expect anything else out of God's children?
What is a great scripture about God? 1 John 4, verses 8 and 16. God is love.
Would you expect anything else from His children than to love people?
And you know what? When you love people and you care for people, they feel it and they know it.
When you love people. 1 John 4, 8. I already gave you that. Look at Isaiah 54, verses 5 to 8. But God says to the Israelites to start with, but He'll do this with all people because God loves all people. Isaiah 54, verses 5 to 8. He'll be the banner for the Gentiles. Isaiah 54, verse 5. For your Maker is your husband, speaking to the Israelites when they come back. The Lord of hosts is His name, and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel. The God of the whole earth shall He be called. For the Lord has called you as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, a wife of His youth, when you were refused, says God. But what did she do when she was called as His wife? She went out and played the harlot. She paid people to have a relationship with her.
God's going to bring her back. He said in verse 7, For a small moment I have forsaken you, but with great mercies I will gather you. In a little wrath I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on you, says the Lord your Redeemer.
In Hosea chapter 14 verses 4 and 5, Hosea 14, God uses Hosea's life as kind of a model and just picture what the relationship of Israel was to Him. But in chapter 14, He's bringing them back.
And in chapter 14, in Hosea, and I could go to Hosea 2 verse 14 where He says, I speak with you comfortably. I draw you back with cords of love, with bands of love I bring you back. But Hosea chapter 14 and verses 4 and 5, He says, I will heal their backsliding. I will love them freely, for my anger is turned away from Him. I will be as the dew to Israel. Very important in Israel to have dew on the ground. Doesn't get much water. And He shall grow as the lily. There's no plant so productive. And cast forth His roots as Lebanon. And Lebanon spreads its roots deeply into the ground and as they're as deep as they are tall. Roots go down as tall as the tree gets, stable and strong. God says, I will love you. Malachi, He tells them, I have loved you.
And they say, Where have you loved us? He said, Because I loved you.
As a spirit being in God's family, you're going to be loving people, having compassion upon them, healing them, encouraging them, leading them in a godly way. Galatians 5 verse 13 is the Scripture, oftentimes that we use in my last Scripture, by the way. Galatians 5 and verse 13.
This last point on loving and serving. Galatians 5, 13.
For brethren, you have been called to liberty, only use not your liberty for an occasion to the flesh. Don't live for yourself. Don't say, Well, I'm free to do what I want. I'm free to do anything.
But by love, serve one another. By love, serve one another. What will we be doing for those thousand years? Well, we'll be ruling, restoring, stabilizing, teaching, and disciplining, loving, and serving. Now these are some probable responsibilities that God has called us as his children to do during the millennium. You may add more than that. You may, I hope you do. I hope you, what about this one? What about that? Good for you! I'm not saying this is the end all ones, but there are five areas that I believe we will be doing during that thousand years as spirit beings in the family of God. What a glorious task we have ahead of us to have a part in creating and maintaining the wonderful world tomorrow in God's kingdom during the millennium. I hope you've had a great feast of tabernacles. I'd like to thank Mr. Weber. I don't know. He'll probably thank everybody else, but I'd like to thank Mr. Weber. Have you give him a nice hand for all of his service to you here.
And I would like to end this sermon with a toast.
Dr. Clint Zimmerman used to toast at the end of his sermons at the Feast of Tabernacles and say to the kingdom, no, I couldn't buy enough glasses for all of you, and I'm not using champagne, though I would toast with champagne if I weren't up here speaking. This is Mountain Dew, but it'll have to, but this will have to do for the Mountain to the House of the Eternal. But I would like to toast on behalf of Dr. Clint Zimmerman, on behalf of Chuck Zimmerman, who wasn't able to be here, and I would like to say as we close this day, the Feast of Tabernacles is over. The millennium is over. Now the kingdom of God isn't, but I would still like to say to the kingdom.
So
