Proverbs: Watch Your Step

1 minute read time

Wisdom that sticks with you - straight from God's Word.

"The simple believes every word, but the prudent considers well his steps" (Proverbs 14:15). The Good News Bible translation puts it this way, "A fool will believe anything; smart people watch their step."

We should not depend on hearsay for what we believe, but carefully verify things and try to connect the dots of a matter. This may take some time and research, but it's worth the effort.

In particular, we should be careful to search out the truth of God's way in the Bible. Many people interpret the Bible for their own benefit, and not according to what it actually says. Be sure to ask God for guidance and for a mind open to the truth as you read the Bible.

Have you ever "believed every word" and been misled? What can you do in the future to avoid this mistake?
