Hope After the Grave

[Steve Myers] In this video series, you've seen how God's Holy Days reveal His plan for humanity. From Christ's sacrifice to His future reign on earth. But what about the billions of people who've lived and died without ever truly knowing God? Are they lost forever?

Perhaps you've stood at a graveside and wondered what will happen to your loved one who never understood God's truth. Maybe they lived where the Bible was never taught. Maybe they accepted false ideas about God or lived in a culture that rejected God altogether. Is their opportunity for salvation gone forever?

The Bible gives you an encouraging answer. No. God hasn't forgotten them. The truth is revealed through the final festival in God's annual Holy Day plan, the Eighth Day. The Eighth Day comes immediately after the 7-day Feast of Tabernacles. But it isn't just an extra day added to the Feast. It's a separate Holy Day with its own remarkable meaning.

The Feast of Tabernacles pictures a thousand-year reign of Jesus Christ on earth. The Eighth Day points to a time beyond that, to a great resurrection described in Revelation 20. John wrote, "I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened."

These people aren't being resurrected merely to be condemned. They'll be raised to physical life and given the understanding they never had before. The Bible will be open to them. They'll learn God's truth, experience His way, and receive a genuine opportunity to repent and choose life. Think about what that tells you about God. He's not unfair. He doesn't condemn people because they were born at the wrong time or lived in the wrong place or never had an opportunity to understand Him.

2 Peter 3:9 says that God is "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." You see, God wants people to know Him. But He works with humanity according to His timing, not ours.

That means the countless people who've lived and died without truly knowing God, they're not lost. Their opportunity is still coming. The Eighth Day reveals a God who is perfectly just, remarkably patient, and overflowing with mercy. No one will be denied a genuine opportunity to know Him, understand His truth, and choose His way. But this Holy Day also challenges you. You're learning about God's plan now. You're being given an opportunity to understand His truth today.

So, what will you do with it? Will you postpone making changes because you assume there'll always be more time? Will you respond to God while He's opening your mind and giving you the opportunity? Since God's helping you understand His plan now, don't take it lightly. Respond to Him. Live by His truth, let this hope change the way you live today. The Eighth Day assures you that God's plan is greater than death and broad enough to include every person in His perfect timing.

There's hope for those you've lost. There's hope for humanity and there's hope for you. God hasn't forgotten anyone. So hold tight to that hope. Respond to the truth He's showing you and look forward to the completion of His plan which is just beyond today.
