How can we have confidence in a world that brings us down?
[Steve Myers] How confident are you? There's a fantastic passage that's in Hebrews 10:35. It says something remarkable. It says, "Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward." I love that passage because so oftentimes in this world today, things want to take our confidence from us. It wants to get us down. It wants to get us depressed. It wants us to have just a down point of view when it comes to our surroundings and what God has in mind for us. And yet here is the Apostle Paul saying, "Be courageous." There's much to have confidence in. He tells us don't lose your trust. Stay focused. Be bold. Be brave.
In fact, all those words are different translations that are used for this word, for confidence, to have that boldness, to have that trust in God because it doesn't rely on us. God has done amazing things. He's called us, so don't let anybody or anything take that from you. God's called us and we don't want to throw it away.
We don't want to be a quitter because God's backing us up. We have His Holy Spirit, and so we can accomplish all things. And there's a great reward involved.
In fact, the passages right around this say after you've done the will of God it says you may receive the promise. So we're striving to accomplish that will and we can be confident in that. We can be brave in that, and it says in Hebrews verse 34, "Knowing that you have a better and enduring possession" (Hebrews 10:34).
You see, we're hanging on because ultimately we're looking forward to the big prize. That's the Kingdom of God. And so we can have confidence and trust in God. And when we maintain that confidence, nothing can take it from us.
That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
