Course Corrections

A successful journey requires a true course to arrive. Sometimes we have to make course corrections. Use the Word of God to make that correction.

[Darris McNeely] Recently we did a BT Daily after the death of Neil Armstrong, the first American, the first human to set foot on the moon on the Apollo Landing Program. Thinking about the space program and man's journey to the moon got me to thinking about life's journey toward the Kingdom of God.

If you look at how an astronaut plotted his course to the moon, he had a small spaceship down here that is making its trajectory to the moon - it's a very complicated process. It took a lot of engineering, a lot of calculations - the distance from the Earth down here to the moon. To make that trip required precision and staying true to all of the course corrections and everything that had to be made. If the ship ever got off line, even the slightest amount with the distances from the Earth to the moon, it would have eventually by the time it got to the moon, the spaceship would miss completely its destination. But all along the way, every craft that has ever gone to the moon makes course correction that keeps it always in line so that ultimately it hits its target and gets to its destination.

Course corrections. That's what we're talking about here - making a course correction continually in our life's journey toward God's Kingdom.

Thinking about the space program and the trip to the moon and also reading in God's Word where it says God's Word is truth, and where the Apostle Paul said that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof and for instruction in righteousness. The Word of God, God's Word is truth. Remaining faithful to that in teaching, in practice, and in all aspects and in looking at it as the book, the course, the plan that gets us to our destination.

In Revelation 3:8 in speaking to the Church, Jesus Christ said to the Church, He says, "You've had a little strength. You've kept My word and have not denied My name." Revelation 3:8 - keeping the Word of God, staying faithful to that Word to get us to our destination in God's Kingdom, making the necessary course corrections in our own personal life, in our own faith, and in our own practice in regard to God's Word, in regard to teaching, doctrine, and application in life.

All of the package that God's Word teaches us, it's all profitable to get us to that destination. We have to make those course corrections. We have to stay faithful and true to God's Word. How are you doing in that?

That's BT Daily
