God Has Chosen You!

[Steve Myers] Colossians 1:12 gives us some really encouraging information that we really need to take to heart. It talks about giving God thanks.

So in Colossians 1:12 it gives us a reason to thank God. It says, "Giving thanks to the Father, who's qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light."

Sometimes when you feel that you just can't do anything to measure up, we have to step back and realize that God qualifies us.  He's the one that has called us. He's the one that wants us in the family.

And this word for inheritance is an amazing word that has that family connotation, and yet it gives us insight into what God is doing. If you were to look up that word in the Greek it has to do with casting lots, choosing in other words. And it tells us who does that choosing. It points us in the direction of the Father. The Father has qualified us.  He's chosen us to be a part of His family. He's granted us His Holy Spirit and so we have the opportunity through God's Holy Spirit to be a part of God's way.

Is that something to be thankful for? Absolutely.
