Has government power crossed the line? Discover how the Bible challenges us to see beyond politics and stand for truth with courage, conviction, and the Word of God.
[Steve Myers] From President Bush to President Obama, President Biden to President Trump, leaders from both parties have pushed the limits of authority—whether in the name of national security, social progress, or executive control.
Some decisions may have been well-intentioned. Others sparked controversy. But one thing is clear: Power—without accountability—comes at a cost. And this isn’t just a political issue. It’s a spiritual one.
It’s easy to get caught in headlines, to grow cynical, or to look the other way. But the Bible challenges you to ask something deeper: What is the God-given role of government?
“For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil... For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain.” (Romans 13:3–4)
God designed leadership to protect, serve, and uphold justice—not to manipulate or intimidate. When government shifts from service to control, it shows a breakdown of wisdom, justice and moral responsibility.
You’ve seen truth distorted. You’ve seen power abused. But if you follow Christ, you’re called to live by a higher standard.
You don’t need a title or a platform—just a sword and the truth. That “sword”? It’s the Word of God. It cuts through the noise, anchors your life, and points you toward something eternal.
You weren’t made to follow the culture or chase approval. You were made to live with clarity, conviction and courage.
Wonder how it all connnects? Check out the free Bible study guide “You Can Understand Bible Prophecy” at UCG.org. It will help you see God’s bigger picture—and how to prepare with purpose and hope.
In this time of power struggles and uncertainty, God gives you something better: The sword of the Spirit—His Word.
Pick up that sword. Learn it. Use it. Let it shape your beliefs, guide your choices, and give you the strength to live what’s right – every day. Because the world doesn’t just need more opinions. It needs people who aren’t afraid to live differently. Grounded in truth.
Let it start with you.
Prophecy is an integral part of the Bible, God's inspired revelation to mankind. Through it God reveals Himself, His plan for humanity and why we are here. When properly understood, the Bible speaks with a clear, consistent and reliable message that is just as appropriate for us as it was for the people of ancient Israel.
