Grow in Confidence: Part 1

[Steve Myers] Grow in confidence. We live in challenging times that tries to drain us of our hope and our trust. But God's Word wants us to have a confidence in God. And it is possible, even during these difficult times that we can actually grow to be more confident in what's God's plan and what His purpose is really all about.

There's a beautiful passage in the Proverbs. Proverbs 14:26, it gives us a reminder of how we can grow even in our confidence. And it says this, "In the fear of the Lord, there's a strong confidence and His children will have a place of refuge." And so here we find confidence because God protects us. He is this refuge, so we can trust Him because we can appreciate His greatness. And I think that's really what Proverbs is getting at, the greatness of God, God's greatness is amazing and awesome. And when we think about God's greatness, His power, His righteousness, His wisdom, it can help us to realize we can trust Him. We can have confidence in Him because either we're going to live in worry, and fear, and anxiety, or we're going to trust God.

Isn't that a choice that we have? We trust ourselves, we trust our own abilities, we trust our own power, or we trust in the Great God, that is all powerful. I mean, imagine, without that kind of trust in God's greatness, and power, and His righteousness, and His wisdom, we might have a tendency to look at things and think, "Well, look what God's not doing. God isn't doing this, that I thought He might do it this way." With that confidence, we can begin to see what God is doing. And I think that's so important.

What is God doing? Instead of seeing all the negative side of things, look at the positive and we can recognize that in our great God, there is a strong confidence.
