God uses no uncertain terms in describing the blessings He has for us!
[Steve Myers] One time when I was a little kid I found a wallet outside the Red Owl. It was a little grocery store in my little hometown. And my mom was there with me and she said, "Well, let's take it into the store in case somebody that lost it comes to claim it." Well, sure enough somebody came back to claim that wallet, but you know what? They gave me reward. I got a dollar for finding that wallet. And that was such an exciting time for a little kid. It was just amazing.
Now I was reminded of that story from a section in Psalm 19. In Psalm 19, you want to talk about a real reward, not a dollar, but here's something that's eternal. In Psalm 19 it tells us about God's way and the whole Psalm goes through these amazing facets of the blessings that come from following God. He says in verse 7 it says, "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul" (Psalm 19:7). that we can be God-like. We can be like Christ because we follow God's way and His will. It says, "The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple." So we can have a reward of being blessed as we follow and keep His word and His way.
The one I really enjoy is verse 11. It says, "Your servant is warned," and then, "And in keeping them," referring to God's law, "In keeping them there is a great reward" (Psalm 19:11). So if you ever have any doubt about keeping God's will, keeping His way, doing His commandments - you know, is there a wonderful blessing, a treasure that lies beyond? There's no doubt. We will be blessed today. We will be blessed tomorrow and for all eternity because keeping God's way has a great reward.
That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
