[Steve Myers] Donald Trump recently said he's not sure he'll make it into heaven.

[Donald Trump] If I can save 7,000 people a week from being killed, I think that's a pretty—I want to try and get to heaven if possible. I'm hearing I'm not doing well.

[Steve Myers] Let's be real. He won't. And neither will you. But before you scroll, this isn't political. I'm not here to bash President Trump or anyone else. This is about what the Bible actually says and what so many misunderstand. Most Christians believe that when you die, your soul goes to heaven. But that is not what Scripture teaches. When the New Testament church began, the apostle Peter said David is both dead and buried and in his tomb. He said his tomb is with us to this day. And then to make it clear, he said David did not ascend into the heavens. And we think about that. King David, a man after God's own heart, isn't in heaven? Why?

Because the Bible teaches that the dead are in the grave, waiting for the resurrection when Jesus returns to set up His kingdom on this earth. So, no, you don't go to heaven when you die. Nobody does.

Now, if you've never heard this before, you want some clear biblical answers. No traditions, no guesswork, just Scripture. So check out our free Bible aid, What Happens After Death, right there at ucg.org.

There's also a second truth involved in President Trump's statement. You can't earn eternal life. The president said, if I can save 7,000 people a week from being killed, I want to try to get to heaven. But I'm hearing I'm not doing well. Now, see, here's a problem in that statement. Good deeds don't buy salvation. Romans 6:23 says what we earn says the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

You see, it's a gift, but that gift still requires a response. James wrote, faith without works is dead. And Jesus himself said in Matthew 7:21, not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom, but he who does the will of my Father.

So, no, President Trump won't go to heaven when he dies. Neither will you. And it's not about who's good enough. It definitely is not about getting to heaven because heaven isn't the reward.

Our true hope is the resurrection, eternal life in God's kingdom on this earth for those who truly follow Christ.

So the question to ask yourself isn't, will I make it to heaven? The question is, am I living for the Kingdom now?
