What Does True Commitment to Christ Look Like?

Jesus Christ made a foundational statement for all mankind when He said in John 14:6 John 14:6Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me.
American King James Version×: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
In that verse, He makes clear to all mankind what is even more clearly stated in Acts 4:12 Acts 4:12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
American King James Version×: “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
The only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ. That is the truth that is written in the only pure word of truth on earth today—and that is the Bible, the very Word of God.
If you believe in Jesus Christ, if you believe He is the Savior of mankind, and if you truly desire to heed Christ’s commands to “Follow Me”—as the apostles did throughout their lives—you must know the words Jesus said and do them. This is the commitment we must have to Christ.
Christ is the Way
Christ is “the Way” to the Kingdom of God and eternal life. He set the example for us to follow. Do you know and are you committed to following “the Way” He instructed—as the apostles and early New Testament Church did? Jesus’ followers were known for following “the Way” (Acts 9:2 Acts 9:2And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
American King James Version×; Acts 19:9 Acts 19:9But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spoke evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
American King James Version×; Acts 19:23 Acts 19:23And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.
American King James Version×; Acts 22:4 Acts 22:4And I persecuted this way to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.
American King James Version×; Acts 24:14 Acts 24:14But this I confess to you, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
American King James Version×; Acts 24:22 Acts 24:22And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter.
American King James Version×).
Christ says He is the truth and He says in Matthew 4:4 Matthew 4:4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
American King James Version×: “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God’” (emphasis added throughout.) In John 6:63 John 6:63It is the spirit that vivifies; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life.
American King James Version×, Christ says: “It is the Spirit [which] gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”
Jesus Christ is the Head of His Church—His Body (Colossians 1:18 Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
American King James Version×) and He commissioned His Church to teach them to “observe all things that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:20 Matthew 28:20Teaching them to observe all things whatever I have commanded you: and, see, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen.
American King James Version×).
Keeping the Commandments
The Church Christ started when He was on earth will be preaching the same truth that Jesus Christ and His apostles taught. His people will be following His example (1 Peter 2:21 1 Peter 2:21For even hereunto were you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow his steps:
American King James Version×) and living the truth as it is stated in the Bible—the word of truth. It will be those who demonstrate their love for God by keeping His commandments and “doing” the truth who will enter His Kingdom and receive the gift of eternal life (John 3:21 John 3:21But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are worked in God.
American King James Version×, James 1:22 James 1:22But be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
American King James Version×).
This is true commitment to Jesus Christ: following and doing His commandments.
