Friday, January 3, 2003 – Teleconference
A quorum of the Council of Elders met today by teleconference to finalize its work with regards to proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws. It then went into executive session to discuss various personnel matters. John Jewell could not participate in this teleconference as the Sabbath had already begun in Britain.
Proposed Amendments
Facing a January 6 deadline, the Council completed its work on what recommendations and/or action to take in fulfilling its responsibilities in forwarding and/or dealing with suggested amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws in preparation for the 2003 Annual Meeting of the General Conference of Elders. (Please see Bylaws 12.2.2.6, 12.2.2.7, 12.2.2.8 and 12.2.2.9.) No further details can be given at this time, in order to allow the members of the General Conference to address the issues based on official correspondence from the Amendment Committee and the Secretary of the United Church of God, an International Association.
