This Friday April 11th after sundown begins, by reckoning of the Hebrew Calendar, the 14th day of the 1st month. This begins the day that God instructed Israel to call "Passover". This is the same evening in which Jesus Christ told his disciples that he greatly anticipated sharing dinner with them. Jesus Christ called this special supper "the Passover". (Matthew 26:18; Mark 14:14; Luke 22:8). It is the same night in which he was betrayed, arrested and later crucified. The Apostle Paul told the people of Corinth that "Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us." (1 Corinthians 5:7)

For most people who profess Christianity, they will observe his death on what we all know as "Good Friday". This will be observed one week later from the Passover this year (Friday April 18th). If you are one of those people who considers the sacrifice of Jesus Christ of any importance in your life, you might want to also consider the connection of the biblical Passover to that sacrifice. Can there be anything more fundamentally Christian than the Passover?

If you’d like to learn more about the timing of events leading up to Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and how they connect with the Passover, take a moment to read this eye opening study guide “When Was Jesus Christ Crucified and Resurrected?” available on the United Church of God website.
