As Christians, we are here to live God's way of life. Often times, this way of life is referred to as "running the race", and during this race we often run into things that can cause us to stop running. We need to be mindful that we don't stop running the race, and we can use God's Word to find examples of what challenges we may run into, as well as some encouraging words to help us overcome these challenges.
We often associate Solomon with wisdom, but when we look a little closer at exactly what it was that Solomon asked for, it was specifically for the ability to discern good from evil so that he could judge God's people. We need to seek God's righteous discernment for everything in our life so that we can make Godly decisions. In this message we will go through some different uses for Godly discernment, as well as how we can better achieve a proper level of Godly discernment.
As we proceed through time we often lose focus on the basics, but it's critical that we occasionally revisit the foundation and focus on maintaining our foundation. God gave us His Writings that we can go to and learn more about our foundation, what it should consist of, as well as how we can properly maintain and focus on our foundation. With a good, solid, and well maintained foundation, we can truly grow in God's way and build upon His perfect foundation.
To lust after something is to have a strong desire or strong craving for that thing. This desire can be a good thing just as easily as it can be a bad thing. In this message we will look to God's Word to learn more about righteous and unrighteous lusts.
2 Corinthians 5: 20 tells us that we are to be ambassadors for Christ. God's Word shows us examples of how to become better ambassadors for God. In this message we'll use the Bible to show us qualities of a good ambassador.
We live in this physical plane, and cannot describe God's Spirit or the extent of it's power, but we do know that through the help of the Spirit we can grow closer to God and He can work with us. We should be investigating ourselves and look for fruit of the Spirit so that we can determine whether we are using the Spirit as we should be.
"Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?" - This was the question a few of the disciples asked Christ. And His response was that "unless we be converted and become like little children, we shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven." Let's open God's Word to better understand what it means to "become childlike", and how we can learn to become better children of God.
The Church holds this fundamental belief to be true based on God's Word, that repentance and faith go hand-in-hand. Today we'll go through how and why these two topics do connect with one another and should necessarily be split into two separate doctrines.
Everyone knows that sin is bad, but how often do we think about what sin is? It's important to know what sin is because then we can better know how to avoid or overcome sin. Let's look at God's Word to better understand sin, and learn a few ways that we can avoid sin and live a fuller life following Christ.
During this season we often hear messages about the importance of examining ourselves. This is great, but when we do these examinations, do we let ourselves become down or shameful or feel guilty for thinking about the sins we've committed? Satan would love for us to to get caught up in these emotions and fail to realize God's love for us and promise to us is that He will not hold our forgiven sins against us. Let's go to God's Word to learn some crucial lessons about self-examination.
As we approach the Passover and days of Unleavened Bread, it is crucial for our growth that we examine ourselves, deeper than ever, to find our areas of weakness as well as our areas of growth! If we are struggling to figure out how we can examine ourselves, we can look to the Bible and find examples from God's servants to take some lessons away from how they examined themselves.
As we approach the Passover and the Fall Holy Days, we should be searching ourselves and taking note of areas in our lives that we need to improve. As we do this, it's important that we look to God's Word for examples from God's people, as well as inspirational messages to help lift us up and provoke us to improve our spiritual walk with God. One place we can look for inspiration and an example is at the life of King Josiah.
We know it's not possible that any man could live a perfect sinless life, but we can still consider what things would be like if the whole world tried to follow God's ways, or how our life would be if we were sinless. Let's also consider the intent of God's law, and think about some of the benefits they could bring to us.
In life there are times when we can start to feel down, or view everything negatively, but we need to ask what does God think about us thinking this way? What does the Bible tell us to do when you start to feel like your life is meaningless? Or when we start to lose hope in our country?
It's so easy to get caught up wondering about the things that might happen in the near future that we forget to focus on the things that aren't going to change. In this message we'll go over a few things that are never going to change.
Are we 'law abiding citizens'? Do we actually know and obey every law? Let us be cautious that we do not become hypocrites as the scribes and Pharisees when considering God's laws.
Throughout our Christian life, we must consider our walk with God. It's important that we continue to search ourselves and ask ourselves if we are walking blamelessly? Are we walking in the Spirit? We can turn to the Bible to help us determine if we are walking in faith properly, or if we need to work a little harder to make the necessary changes in our lives.
How often do we consider the glorious purpose that God has prepared for us as His creation? Or think about God's desire to grow His family and how we play into that desire? In this message we will discuss some of these things and look at God's Word to confirm how God's plan explains what His desires are for us and our purpose.
Friendship is so important in our lives, but how often do we stop to think about the types of friends we have? Or the type of friend that we are? Let's look at the Bible to find examples of friendships and use these to help us consider what type of friend we are.
This time of year is a good reminder for us, a reminder for us to look at ourselves and ask what we are thankful for. We can go to God's Word to help us better realize things that we should be thankful for that God has promised to us. God has promised us great blessings, but do we always notice them when He pours out upon us these various blessings?
