Pro Syrian Protests in Lebanon

The winds of change are blowing across the Middle East. Since the January 30th elections in Iraq people have taken to the streets asserting their desire for self government. Lebanon has been experiencing street demonstrations since the assassination of former prime minister Rafik Hariri three weeks ago. Thousands of Lebanese have gone into the streets demanding Syria withdraw troops from Syria and stop its interference in internal politics.

Now today , the Shiite militant group Hezbollah has sent supporters out to show support for Syria. Hezbollah is is anti America and Israel and supports terrorism. They hold several parliament seats and provide many social services in Lebanon. They are a significant force in the country and will figure in any future political solution. Th situation continues to develop.

Darris McNeely

Darris McNeely works at the United Church of God home office in Cincinnati, Ohio. He and his wife, Debbie, have served in the ministry for more than 43 years. They have two sons, who are both married, and four grandchildren. Darris is the Associate Media Producer for the Church. He also is a resident faculty member at the Ambassador Bible Center teaching Acts, Fundamentals of Belief and World News and Prophecy. He enjoys hunting, travel and reading and spending time with his grandchildren.
