The Greeks built temples to their pagan gods, but most of them are now in ruins.

The Romans also built temples to their pagan gods, but they have been destroyed. The Egyptians built pyramids as tombs for their pharaohs, whom they considered gods, but the pyramids are deteriorating.

Nothing wrong with nice buildings—but more important is the character we are building in our children and ourselves. That is something that is worth every effort, as it is built to last.
