Discipline

The German playwright Carl Zuckmayer wrote: "One half of life is luck; the other half is discipline—and that's the important half, for without discipline you wouldn't know what to do with your luck."
His words are sensible. The Bible tells us that time and chance—luck—happen to everyone (Ecclesiastes 9:11).
I have known people who have won or inherited a lot of wealth—then squandered it. We all see so many young wasting their minds on drugs and hurting their bodies with junk food. Discipline is what allows us to enjoy and properly use what we have. God thinks so too—as He explains in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:20). Grow your luck!
