2026 Camp Report: Gilmont

1 minute read time

We are grateful to God for another successful year at preteen Camp Gilmont, located in the Piney Woods of East Texas.

From May 31 to June 3, 31 preteen campers along with 25 adult and teen staff enjoyed a camp experience that was abundant with God’s blessings. Storms came through East Texas one afternoon and went all around us, never hitting us directly.

Fun activities included utilizing the swimming pool and splash fountain, along with a dunking booth and water balloon fight. The kids had several opportunities to play gaga ball throughout camp. A variety of sports, water games, arts and crafts, hammock circle, Bible charades, music, line dancing, campfire and free time under the pavilion rounded out the activities. Each dorm performed its best Bible charade for the whole camp during our final Christian living class.

The UYC theme of “Follow Me” was well received and reinforced within various activities and in the Christian living classes. Campers were encouraged to explore what it means to follow God and Jesus in their everyday lives—through their actions and choices.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our adult and teen volunteers for their dedicated service at camp. Your commitment is appreciated, as camp would not be possible without your support. We’re looking forward to Camp Gilmont again next year from May 30–June 2, 2027.
